Welcome to the great Southeast Asian Adventure, friends! Jeremia and I are now on day 3 of our 2 month stay in Thailand, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. I know, I know, you're jealous.
This incredible adventure has been in the works for a long time and even now that I'm sitting in a hostel in Bangkok, Thailand, it still doesn't quite seem real. Good thing we've got 9 more weeks to go. I'll be updating the blog during our time here so y'all can distract yourselves from your cubicles at least once a week. I hope you enjoy!
Everyone told us that we needed no more than 2 nights in Bangkok, and I'd have to agree. In the three days that we've spent here we have explored the entire tourist area surrounding Khao San Road, we have traveled multiple times across the city (between hostels) and we have explored the "Green Lung" of Bangkok, otherwise known as Bang Krachao Island. Oh, and we've eaten a lot of street food. But our favorite part? The quiet and cool back alleys.
These tiny back alleyways are hidden away from the traffic, tourists and heat. They lead to the actual homes and store-backs of the locals and they are beautifully colored and enchanting in a haphazard kind of way. Exploring these tiny streets have given us a nice look into Thai culture and daily life in Bangkok; something to see outside of the composed tourist experience. The roaming packs of stray kitties definitely help keep our attention in these little alleyways, too!
For those of you who must hear and see about the rest of our activities here in Bangkok, stay tuned! Some favorites will be posted in the next few days.
